Our Story – How It All Began

Our Story – How It All Began

In the late 1990s, fate brought together four friends living in South India all sons of the soil from Mandar. What began as a simple meeting soon turned into a heartfelt conversation, as memories of home and a shared longing to give back to their motherland filled the room. That moment planted the seed of a journey rooted in love, responsibility, and hope.

Their first informal gathering took place in Bengaluru, where they spoke openly about Mandar its challenges, its needs, and its immense potential. Moved by a deep sense of commitment, they realized that meaningful change would require more than good intentions; it would need structure, collaboration, and continuity.

With this in mind, they brought together a few more like-minded members from South India to strengthen coordination, ensure regular dialogue, and turn ideas into action. At the same time, a trusted representative from Mandar joined the effort, serving as the vital link between vision and reality by guiding and supporting on-the-ground initiatives.

What started as a conversation among friends soon grew into a shared mission one driven by the belief that giving back to one’s roots is both a privilege and a responsibility.

The Historic First Official Meeting (Year 2000)

The first official meeting took place in the year 2000 at Marina Beach, Chennai. Fifteen members attended this meeting and unanimously decided to form an organisation dedicated to the service of Mandar.

It was here that the organisation received its name:

"Shree Mandar Seva Samiti"

This meeting laid the foundation for a structured journey of service that continues even today.

Growth Over the Years

With each successful project, the Samiti’s strength grew. From humble beginnings, it has today evolved into a reputable organisation with  30+ active members across India, tirelessly dedicated to Mandar’s progress.

Our Founding Story

In 2000, four friends of Mandar origin, residing in South India, met in Bengaluru and decided to give back to their motherland through collective service. The first official meeting was held at Marina Beach, Chennai, where 15 members gathered and unanimously decided to form Shree Mandar Seva Samiti.

The group’s first project was to paint and repair the government high school, which hadn’t been maintained for over two decades. As villagers and donors joined hands, the Samiti expanded its scope — leading to landmark projects in solar lighting, education, clean water, and village cleanliness.
